Lenten Liturgy Notes

Blood clots?! What next?

Yes, if you haven't heard, my Achilles tendon surgery was followed by a not-so-uncommon complication of blood clots in my lower leg. Things seem to be working out regarding treatment and recovery, but it was certainly unexpected.

I offer to you continued thanks and great appreciation from my family and me for the endless charity showered upon us during this trying time in our lives. We all know that this is where we are supposed to be. What a wonderfully loving community of faith lived out in amazing ways! Thank you!!

So, I ask again, What's next? How about Holy Week? That is what's coming up at the end of March. Palm Sunday falls on March 28. I know that this is the beginning of Spring Break for many schools, but I hope if you are in town, you will make an extra effort to attend the services during Holy Week. There is no better way to experience and appreciate the full power of the Easter services than by attending as many of the worship opportunities leading up to this, the greatest Feast Day of the year!

Please see the Holy Week schedule in this edition of the Parish Paper and mark your calendars accordingly. I pray that Lent continues to be a time of meaning and depth as you observe your Lenten disciplines. God bless you. Ned+

The Lenten recitals will take place on Wednesdays at 12:00noon, with lunch following at 12:35pm in the Parish and Community Life Center for only $5.00.

Kingdom Kids in grades 1-5 spent all of February learning that God uses common people for uncommon good by exploring the story of Esther. Adventure Leaders were Alden Earl, Jason Pye, Caroline James, Beth Brice and Joy Oates.

In March, we will walk with Jesus through Holy Week. Our memory verse for this rotation is one that each of us - yes, even Episcopalians - knows: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). Leaders for this cycle are Michel Stone, Laura Bauknight, Kate Dargan, Joyce Veytia, Peyton Veytia, and Tricia Liollio.
