Adult Sunday School Offerings
Learning for Life, Growing in Faith, Spreading the Light

The following classes meet most Sundays from 10:10-11:05 a.m. with the exception of the summer. Feel free to try one or all of the classes – they lend themselves to dropping in and out as your schedule allows!

Parents in Community: is a class for people with children living in the home and meets in Dining Room A of the Parish and Community Life Center (PCLC). This class explores a variety of topics that have included Parenting, The Soul of a Child, and Money and Emotions.  Regular fellowship times are also incorporated in to this class.

Rector’s Forum: is open to adults of all ages and meets in Dining Room B of the PCLC.  This class is led by our Rector, Ned Morris, and includes exploration/discussion of the Theology, Polity and History of the Episcopal Faith. No matter what the topic, come prepared to be engaged.

The Gleaners Class meets in the Library Conference Room in Satterlee Hall and is also open to adults of all ages. This ever-growing class is facilitated by Roland Doepner and Agnes Martin and examines the weekly Lectionary readings using Art, Music and Drama. Most Sundays you will find something yummy to eat! (Note: During the summer, the class meets from 9 to 10:15 a.m.)

Please monitor our publications, the Parish Paper and the Bell Ringer, for updates about class offerings and schedule changes.

Bible and Book Studies at the Advent

Learning for Life, Growing in Faith, Spreading the Light

Study of Holy Scripture is foundational to our faith as Christians. Seventy percent of the Book of Common Prayer comes directly from the Bible. At the Advent, we offer a variety of Bible and book studies to accommodate our parishioners’ interests and schedules. If you have any questions about these studies, please contact the Associate Rector for Christian Formation, The Rev. Debbie Apoldo, at or 864-504-3685.

Tuesdays, 12:15-1:10pm /Book and Brown Bag/ PCLC Dining Room C

The Rev. Ned Morris facilitates these discussions in Dining Room C of the Parish and Community Life Center (PCLC). This book study is perfect for people who work and can enjoy study and conversation during their lunch break. Beginning April 10, we will be discussing The Liturgy Explained by James Farwell.

Thursday Morning Men's Bible Study / 7am/ PCLC Dining Room C

The Men's Fellowship and Bible Study Group meets with Dave Rodrick on Thursday mornings at 7am in the Parish and Community Life Center, Dining Room C. On the third Thursday of every month, the start time is 6:45am because breakfast is served that day. Newcomers are welcome. It’s the kind of conversation you can easily join, whether or not you’ve had a chance to read the text. For additional information, please contact Dave Rodrick at

Thursday Women's Bible Study and Fellowship

A Loving Life in a World of Broken Relationships

This group, facilitated by The Rev. Deborah Apoldo, meets every Thursday during the school year. We’ll be using the book by Paul E. Miller to study the biblical book of Ruth. All women are encouraged to invite a friend.
