Speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into Christ.

(Ephesians 4:15)

Children are welcome at the Episcopal Church of the Advent. Fun and interactive programming throughout the year allows families to deepen their connection with God, each other, and the Episcopal Church of the Advent community.

Children In Worship

Children of all ages are always welcome at any of our services and are also invited to receive Communion. Children’s worship bags are available just inside our front door, with child-friendly worship bulletins, bags of markers and crayons, and picture books to borrow and enjoy during worship. Please contact the Director of Children and Families to learn more about our children’s programs.

Sunday Children’s Formation

Weekly Sunday School classes for children ages 4 through 5th grade take place Sundays in our Parish and Community Life Center during the school year. Our program is designed to serve children, youth, and their families on their faith journey.

Nursery

Providing a safe place where infants and toddlers experience loving care while their parents worship and learn. Nursery care is available during Sunday School and the 10:15 a.m. service and is located in the Parish and Community Life Center across the street from the church for children between the ages of newborn to 4 years old. The Advent nursery is staffed by trained professionals and a parent volunteers each week.

Special Events

Watch for annual events of special interest to children and families, including our Christmas pageant, Easter Egg Hunt, blessing of the backpacks at the beginning of the school year, as well as Vacation Bible School in the summer.  Keep up with these and other events by following us on Facebook and Instagram.

Protecting Children

All volunteers who serve in ministries with children and youth are required to participate in “Safeguarding God’s Children,” a training program for identifying and preventing any form of abuse.

Advent Children’s Center

The mission of the Advent Children’s Center is to provide a safe, quality educational and Christian environment for pre-school children of the parish and the community. We encourage a happy, self-confident child eager to learn through activities designed to develop the social, emotional, cognitive, creative, and physical aspects of each individual.
